Ben Fagan

Adjunct professor | Public speaker | Author | Former college athlete

Entering college, I was what I would call, "anti-technology." I would rather write a 20-page book report than make a five-slide PowerPoint. But as a journalism major, I was exposed to technologically-heavy courses like photography and videography which forced me to face my "anti-technology" fears. Throughout these courses, I was fortunate enough to be led by incredible faculty members that helped me navigate this new world, and in turn, instill a new and deeply driven passion in me. The more I became immersed in these filming and editing courses, the more I fell in love with the craft. After graduating, I began to work professionally as a filmmaker focusing on filming and editing promotional content for businesses of all sizes. From farmer's market vendors to corporate organizations, I worked and continue to work closely with a variety of clients to bring their visions to life. While this environment is far from the classroom, I always try and take the opportunity to educate the clients I work with. Through this dialogue with them about how we can execute their vision, we are both able to learn. The experiences and conversations that I have with clients, carry over to the classes I teach as an adjunct professor. For the past 5 years, I have had the great fortune of sharing my passion for video production with students of all levels and I look forward to getting to work with you! I edit all of my projects on Adobe Premiere Pro and am also familiar with iMovie, ClipChamp and Canva. If you use another software, I am still more than happy to discuss editing strategies to help you bring your visions to life!
